Immediately after the incident media reports described the perpetrator as being of "middle eastern appearance and wearing a black jacket with a white stripe down the side and blue shorts".

Now the perpetrator is being described as "having black hair and was wearing a black jacket with a white stripe down the side and blue shorts".

What is more important? Arresting a paedophile quickly before he strikes again or prohibiting the police/ media from using ethnic descriptors because a minority of nitwits think all people of a certain ethnicity might be persecuted if an accurate description of the suspect is released?

Depending on exactly where in the middle east the guy is originally from it could just be the cops updating the description to be more accurate. After all, when most people think "middle eastern" they start thinking about swarthy skinned bearded guys. Turns out that region of the world is pretty damn big and there can be a fucking huge variation in what people look like from area to area and culture to culture. For example, run a Google image search for "Lebanese male", "Iranian male", "Afghan male", and "Saudi male". There's a good bit of difference, the main commonality being a tendency for dark brown or black hair.
