Now you confuse me with a greenie environmentalist when all I am saying is we need to take action to prevent in a long term (1 to 2 hundred years or so) major heating of the planet and the ill effect of that.
Asking what steps you've taken yourself to reduce your carbon footprint is not confusing you with a Greenie environmentalist. It's seeing whether you have courage in your convictions if you are really so concerned about the planet or if you are just harbouring feelings of submissiveness and begging for a government to tell you what to do.

I see by your response you seek submissiveness. A festering need for and to be directed.

There is no proof of any man made catastrophic global warming... the climate of this planet changes periodically all on its own whether we like it or not.
It heats up, it cools down... nothing points to our input changing that in any radical way whatsoever.
We are over due for an Ice age... lets hope we can adapt tio that because it is likely to last at least as long as the last one.

Seventeen and a half years. Not a flicker of global warming. The RSS satellite record, the first of the five global-temperature datasets to report its February value, shows a zero trend for an impressive 210 months. Miss Brevis, send a postcard to Mr Gore:

Why did none of the vaunted models predict this long hiatus, stasis, pause, halt, rest, interval, intermission, break, time out, vacation, furlough, gap, plateau, or flat spot?

Confirmation that the ALP and the Greens are bad for business, and panic merchants like SN here gave them succor to implement a touchy feel good measure to appease their conscience at the expense of employment, the national interest and people. They have killed Qantas. How many more have to end up as paupers before reason and logic kick in?

Here's a hint, when people suffer financial hardship no human being will give a crap about 'environmental' issues. A rational human beings never gave a crap about pseudo 'environmental' in the first place.

Qantas blames woes on carbon tax

QANTAS has urged parliament to support the Coalition’s efforts to support the national airline, revealing its carbon tax liability was on track to reach $118 million this year.

In a statement issued this afternoon, the airline complained the carbon tax was “among the most significant challenges we face” and that was unable to pass the cost on to consumers because of the “intensely competitive market”.

Yet labor keep stating in parliament, that the airlines wanted the carbon tax and say it has no impact on their businesses... someone is telling porkies.

Is there a thread about Qantas? Someone please start one if there isn't.

We do NOT need a National Airline.

Australia has lots National Airlines, of which Qantas be but one.

The last thing the punter needs is a Government owned Airline.

Well, of course, this is just the sort of blinkered philistine pig-ignorance I've come to expect from you non-creative right wing garbage. You sit there on your loathsome spotty behinds squeezing blackheads, not caring a tinker's cuss for the struggling planet. You excrement, you whining hypocritical toadies with your colour TV sets and your Tony Jacklin golf clubs and your bleeding selfish ignorance.

I have a festering need to defend common sense and slap everyone that is so selfish in there own short term lives that they do not care for the long term health of our species and the planet that allows us to prosper.

I don't want government to tell me what to do as an individual. I want to see a world wide recognition of the risk and steps to be taken to mitigate them. It needs to be done in a non-destructive manner. That we all pull together for a common interest.

The success of human kind is primarily driven by our ability to have free time over just surviving because we have society and structures to ensure we don't spend every waking hour trying to stay alive (food, water, shelter). if the environment goes to shit and we have major problems delivering the basics to the majority of the world population let's see where your precious economy lands then. if you want to protect the welfare of the modern economy, humanity needs an environment to thrive in.

Short sighted pig ignorance will be the undoing of this current civilisation. Humanity will survive as a species through this but our society may not.

Go ahead... fuck the planet up. It is time for a good purge of this festering infestation of the planet anyway.
