But yeah, the pointy end of the demographic trainwreck for the Fibs is here.
What will replace the Lieberal Party?

Yeah, some swinging pensioner voters (
) will swing to Labor for sure.

Re: What will replace the Lieberal Party?
For the Fibs to avoid this slide into irrelevance they need to do some bloody hardwork reforming the Party, bringing it closer to the centre and devising a more youth-oriented look and policies.
But they are wedged, divided, with the Howardista element being the strongest and preventing any reform, any modernisation of party structure and policy. Horatio came up with a 5c petrol excise cut, Malfeasance a 3c excise on ciggies--nothing policies because that is all the wedged/divided Party will ALLOW!
Maybe they should split, the more reactionary wing could merge with the Nuts, the other wing moving to the centre and competing much more with Labor and the Greens for the youth vote. That or irrelevance.

All the Liberals have to do to destroy the Labour Party is give Rudd one lite beer and get him in a strip club.

He was just a nerd then, now he is a nerdly Prime Minister, his testies have found some punch. Give him one midstrength beer and a pair of boobs that do not mop the floor like his wifes and I bet we will get some interesting headlines.Jovial Monk wrote:Yeah, that worked so well last time, lol!

A thoroughly researched, emperically solid paper on the Liberal Party's demographic trap:
http://optuszoo.com.au/news/26573/young ... ecies.html
The actual paper should be available from tomorrow. Here is a paper on demographic shift using Newspoll data:
http://www.ianwatson.com.au/pubs/watson ... _mar08.pdf
The paper to be published tomorrow is based on the Australian Election study.
