Re: LIVE EXPORTS HERALDS ELECTION CAMPAIGN
I am absolutely and irrevocably dead against the live export trade so I see it as a tiny step forward and something all parties should be addressing.
Sorry they won't be getting my vote for something they may, or may not, put in place in 10 years.
Weak as!
10 years to implement? A future Labor government? But on Thursday the shadow agriculture minister, Joel Fitzgibbon, said a future Labor government would move to ban the practice and transition the industry into processing meat on Australian shores.
Fitzgibbon said Labor understood the transition would “not take months, it would probably take years” and was not rushing into anything.
“But it absolutely can’t take a decade, it has to happen more quickly than that,” he said, while reiterating Labor’s call for the immediate suspension of the summer live export sheep trade

I don't believe animals should suffer abominably for our eating pleasure or, more to the point, the eating and barbaric pleasure of Middle Easteners.
