Women's Stuff

Post by Neferti » Tue Nov 27, 2018 6:51 pm

Tools = Men's stuff

What is women's stuff? Cooking, cleaning, remembering when the car insurance/registration is due? Collecting the kids from school? Planning, buying (and cooking) the food for the week.

etcetera ....

ALL males should suffer prostate problems ... :rofl

My little lovely has been gradually learning to use many of my tools.

But she draws the line at some of the more industrial ones.

But over the years while helping me renovate my home , my fathers home , my sisters home and my daughters home, she quite competently uses most tools.

She even took to basic repairs while I was overseas for extended periods and can competently replace washers, install wall fittings, replace powerpoints, even some basic car repairs, although changing her tyres is beyond her as she cannot lift the tyre back onto the hub.

Most women can be as competent with tools as men, but some just dont cut it for the strength required to use other tooling for extended periods.

I'll have you blokes know that I can change the tap washers. I have also changed the oil in the car and even had a practice run changing a tyre ... just in case.

However, my "tool kit" consists of:

Lots of screwdrivers of various types and sizes
Hammer
Nails
Screws
Usual other stuff

I do not have a "drill".

Pardon my opinion
But PowerPoints are so simple these days, colour coded and easily replaced
I have taught her to strip the wires correctly, and ensure good connection
And of course isolating the circuit, not just switching the fuse.

It's not like adding PowerPoints
That requires some basic calculations, which most people, electricians included, neglect to do.
You can easily overload a circuit with additional PowerPoints if you don't know what you are doing.

Be that as it may, it's still illegal.

I divorced my husband in 1982. Nobody has had their feet under my table since, i.e. moved in.

I have several male friends but find that if I ask them to "fix something" they have less clue than I do. So, I either do it myself, or call the expert.

Not all males are good at "fixing stuff" ... some are absolutely hopeless, don't listen to instructions, stuff it up and tend to expect "something" in return. I would prefer to pay to electrician, plumber or whatever. :rofl
