Re: Road Rule Quiz
Don't read this link (below) until you have replied.
I think the road rules are a little different in each State. The one above is according to Queensland road rules.
In Canberra, we have a lot of Interstate travellers, a lot of different learned "road rules" ... Victoria gives away to "the right" regardless, apparently.
In the above picture, in Victoria, the yellow car would give away to the blue car. The red and orange car would take "pot luck".
Best clue is ... Be Aware and hope that a Copper isn't in the car behind you. He probably doesn't know the road rules either.

Re: Road Rule Quiz
Blue, yellow, red.
Yellow has to give way to the blue on its right and the red has to give way period so that means the yellow goes off next and the red should wait til last. Unless things have changed lol
The stupid rule about having to put your blinker on in a roundabout, if you are going straight ahead, gets me!

The yellow gives way to the blue, not because it's soon the right, but because it is on a through roadBlack Orchid wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 5:02 pmBlue, yellow, red.

The yellow goes next as it has no give way sign
Finally the red goes through the give way sign.
Now how it works in Sydney
The red screams through forcing the blue and yellow to break suddenly
The yellow sees an opening as the red blocks the blue and with tyres screaming powers through the intersection, losing the back end and destroying a rear wheel
The blue skidding to a stop is rammed by the green car behind it.
The cops come and book the green car and six weeks later the blue car gets repaired.

I didn't look at the drawing properly
The yellow has the right of way being a through road
Then the blue
Then the red because it was at a give way.
Note to self, look at drawing

I drove in Sydney for 15 years and what you explain above is about right. LOL Also went back to Sydney to meet friends after moving to Canberra. That was fun. Driving down, say, Parramatta Road, with a Canberra Number Plate, and people just pull out from the kerb and hope you don't run up their arse ...
However, driving in Canberra is even worse as it is Rafferty's Rules. Do NEVER NOT stop at a Stop Sign though. I remember a work colleague, running late and he just "slowed down" at a Stop Sign ... he didn't realise that he had an Off Duty Copper behind him, who immediately pulled him over. Colleague's excuse was "Sorry, Officer, I am late for a Meeting" to which the Officer replied, "This won't take long". Colleague related the incident because he WAS late for the Meeting and had a hefty fine to boot.

Roundabouts? Canberra ALP Government (and the Planners) started this, way back. Apparently it is cheaper to install a roundabout than install traffic lights. Figures.
I have never driven in Queensland but I have driven in Victoria and they really do TAKE THEIR RIGHT OF WAY ....

Re: Road Rule Quiz
Why would yellow have right of way in NZ?
Of course it doesn't always work the right way. If the drivers are Chinese they would all pull out together then stop dead and block all traffic until someone gets out their car and waves their arms and vocal cords around
