Retail Apocalypse
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-03- ... -dinosaurs
My dad often said "we are ten years behind the US"
Already we can see the gradual slowdown of retail in Australia.
We see a takeaway shop close...and look around..the only reason the others dont close is they are making a dollar
a week more..I use takeaway shops as an example...it applies to all shops...
I have a friend from the motor industry who told me once that it was only a matter of time before new car yards
would be replaced by a shop front with the current model on display...plus a salesman with a computor and leaflets explaining
costs of accessories etc..test drives will be a thing of the past, and all you need to do is look at a computor screen, chose a colour and then decide what accessories you need...your tradein will stay parked in the street until towed away to the auctions...
Second hand cars will be sold at auctions and privately on line...
The retail apocalypse is coming...and sky high retail rents will hurry it along...

I tend to agree !
I think the new German supermarket chain Kaufland will also impact
The only reason I dont do online shopping at Coles and Woolies is they charge a delivery fee, only a matter of time until someone offers free delivery on $20 or more purchases and they will only need warehouses to ship from.
Did I see Amazon were going into groceries they may be the catalyst to start it all

Stats show that in the US, people are having difficulty paying off their auto loans...low wages...not enough jobs..
Worldwide car sales are reducing...but in Australia petrol keeps going up....
When the shit hits the fan...look out..and Shorten wants to increase wages...can we afford it...but I digress......

We are at the mercy of the internet and when it crashes people don't know how to function without it. Jobs will slowly be lost to technology and those millenials who are so dependent on it will bear the brunt of it.
Progress?
I shop online because it's easy but I also know how to live without it. Red? Coles is only $4 for next day delivery with an expanded time frame don't be so tight

I refuse to shop for groceries online because I like to choose fruit, vegetables, etc. myself. I know what to look for and I don't want second-best from a retailer who just wants to move his goods onto any unsuspecting customer. I enjoy shopping in person. I just love going to the big markets where you can see and get real bargains not available in supermarkets. My kids have all learnt how to shop for themselves and do so. Cars? I want to test drive it myself. I want to know how it handles, whether it is underpowered or not, how well it brakes and so on. I will not purchase a car online, I won't purchase clothing online (I want to make sure it fits me and is comfortable before I hand over any dosh). Online is best for goods such as computer stuff and electronics, nothing more. Anybody who purchases food or clothing or other stuff on line is being foolish IMO.

Hey abdul...I guess youd have to shop in person to ensure your food is halal and not haram...brian ross wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 1:15 pmI refuse to shop for groceries online because I like to choose fruit, vegetables, etc. myself. Well, who woulda thought....
Cole are introducing huge cameras to spy on you when you self checkout your purchases.
They spend millions of dollars to install self checkouts....then millions of dollars on cameras to make
sure no one cheats at the checkout...
Makes you think of a dog chasing its tail....
Why not scrap the whole idea and just put on a couple more checkout operators and pay them
peanuts....
Sounds like a cockup to me....

' ....... $4 for next day delivery ............
