The Barnaby fiasco is a total con by the government.
I see it this way...
They were arguing about increasing Newstart.
If they did, it will cost billions...they have conceded that the cost will be huge....
How do we get out of this...
I know...get boofhead Barnaby to talk about how tough he's doing it on $200K...then
the comparitive subject of living on a Newstart payment will come to the fore....
Then, we make a statement that the Newstart Allowance was never meant to be a wage, it
was simply meant to tide everyone over until a new job is secured...and it wont be increased because of this....
Problem solved...at Barnabys expense....

But what is Jacqui Lambie after ? What deal will she do to increase Newstart ?
Perhaps ScoMo should do what Labor planned to do - drastically increase taxes etc to bleed the money from the people ?

Just to put his financial "struggles" in perspective, Barnaby is claiming he is flat broke on $211,000 a year.
The median wage is $65,000
Minimum wage is $38,000
Newstart is $14,500.
You can bet he hasn't had to miss a meal or wonder if he is going to be able to keep a roof over his head.

I am happy to give Barnaby some room here. Now he has to support two Families, and he is lucky to have the means to do that. It will not leave him with much left over.
