I can understand the Govt coming down on a white person to make an example of. They're taking responsibility for their own kind.
But this is where this country is in a bit of a bind.

If it was Aborigines saying such, the Govt takes a 'handle with care' approach.
In fact, if it was Muslims, Indians and any other race that is here in a culturally detached manner - they too are 'handle with care' approach for the Govt can be attacked for being racist or culturally insensitive under threat of riots and protests.

Which begs the question. What if a white person played the same victim card and attacked the Govt/police 'because they are white' or 'australian'

That would indeed upset the apple cart here.
The Govt could say "fine" and watch that white person get attacked by Aborigines who would cry that white person is an invader, etc... down the rabbit hole it will go.

And yes, the 'handle with care' practice is fostered across the board, be it an attempted terrorist hijacking of an Australian aircraft whom had foreign links and had been radicalised, at Avalon airport, to a blackout of gendered violence, Samantha Murphy, to a 19 year old murdered by an indigenous bloke who apparentky just 'clicked' and discarded her body in an Erina creek bed north of Sydney..... Seems to me that the separation of powers exists purely to de-burden the government of the day of it's duty of care, as though to pass the responsibility onto one of three government organs.
Wasn't enshrined into our constitution for the purpose of democratic proceedings and fairness at all.

The people are waking up, and God help any government on the day when they do.
We could be fast approaching French style riots and discord, anarchy.

Vote buying , I don't know about anyone else here, but I feel this cheapens the whole democratic electoral process, rather than voting for a government, I feel like I am prostituting myself to a three armed octopus in exchange for my $vote$.
