medieval alchemy

Post by tllwd » Fri Jun 27, 2025 1:25 pm

Alchemy in the Middle Ages was a mixture of science, philosophy, and mysticism. Far from operating within the modern definition of a scientific discipline, medieval alchemists approached their craft with a holistic attitude; they believed that purity of mind, body, and spirit was necessary to pursue the alchemical quest successfully.

Due to its pre-Christian origins and the secrecy in which its practitioners carried out their studies, alchemy was viewed by the Catholic Church with suspicion and ultimately condemned.

The practice of alchemy laid the foundation for the development of chemistry as a scientific discipline.

Imagine being a child and instead of getting a chemistry set for your 10th birthday, you get a book full of recipes to change matter or substances into a completely different thing.

It would be like magic, only better as there's no deception or trickery involved.... you'd be the most popular kid at school, then again depending on the age, era, you may find yourself tied to a burning stake, or shunned by your peers and community at the very least.

Interesting how the original alchemist author concealed their identity so well that to this day, we don't know who trully wrote the first book on this ancient science of what's essentially now known as very basic chemistry principles and experiments.

I can see how those who practiced it were likely feared to be sorcerists , witches EVIL etc.

Warning, dad/ lame joke alert ⚠️

Perhaps this is why they're called medi-evil?🤔 ha ha ha

Perhaps their first experiments were even conducted on saucers ?

Ok I'm going already :bike

Interesting clips. Thanks.

Anything outside of the Religious sphere was condemned.

Social order and values once mattered.... now look, we have books titled " My two Dads" and transvestites reading to preschool kids in libraries.

Are we a happier and safer society now that less people are religious?

The problems began in public primary schools when we took religious education ( RE) out of the system here in Victoria.

It's ok that alphabets have not only a pride day, but an entire state- funded month to "celebrate their pride" at schools, fly pride flags, and Indigenous students have programs to help keep them connected to their culture, and we even celebrate multicultural days, but unfortunately, faith is no longer relevant and look how this is working out for our public schools.

:c

Make no mistake..... this was intentional, because the goal is a Socialist Republic , soon ALP won't even call themselves such, it will become politically incorrect for a Socialist Republic to be seen as caring for their own country and not others, so will call themselves the Alphabet Socialist Republic.

Anyone from any country in the world will be welcome to vote at our elections, because you are who and what you say you are afterall, so if you identify as an Australian, regardless of your never having visited Australia, then this is your identity afterall, and therefore you can't be excluded from a multicultural nations elections.

8-) What's the population of China again?

The Left ALP are in pure denial.
More than that, they're infiltrated by the enemy, and sometimes the best thing to do is pray they find the right way.
It's a social sickness, they're never happy, never get that sense of personal fulfilment, rarely feel joy, are always in search of a vice.

Sad really, but berating then only serves to reinforce their twisted thinking, that us God botherers are the enemy so....

To be honest, I think this is more like how they'd have us believe they thought about us." The narrative " 🙄

The Chinese are no strangers to chasing precious minerals of the earth, even evidenced by the Gold Rush they gravitated towards in droves here in Ballarat.

They're driven by gain, prosperity, honour and material wealth.

They don't give a damn about others beliefs as evidenced by how they've persecuted their own in Tibet for centuries, and this continues.

According to Freedom House, during the Cultural Revolution (1966–1976), the CCP "imprisoned thousands of monks and nuns, destroyed all but 11 of Tibet's 6,200 monasteries, and burned sacred texts." The possession of religious texts was also criminalized.

Sorry, but I'm not buying Russias or China's "we come in peace " rhetoric. It's bullshit.
