I don't even remember when I bought sauerkraut last time so can't help you there.
But I have been fermenting my own cabbage for many years and it is much easier then many people think.
Home made is better anyway.

If you are short on time or don't like to shred cabbage yourself, use coleslaw just make sure it is fresh and doesn't have additives.
Alternatively you may cut cabbage in larger chunks and add salt brine like so


and enjoy your probiotics.

I've never been a fan of bland cabbage on its own.
I'm going to have to give this a go.
