Liberal senator Jacinta Price has refused to back Sussan Ley’s leadership amid fierce fallout over her comments that Labor was allowing in higher levels of Indian migrants to boost their vote.
She continued to defy pressure on her to apologise for the comments, despite calls from Anthony Albanese and comments from NSW Liberal leader Mark Speakman and shadow Attorney-General Julian Leeser.
Instead, the Northern Territory senator raised concerns on Sussan Ley’s leadership on Wednesday.
Asked directly whether she had “confidence” in Ms Ley’s leadership, Senator Price sidestepped the query, and continued to do so despite repeated follow ups to the yes or no question.

Re: Jacinta Price Sacked from Front Bench
Opposition Leader Sussan Ley has sacked firebrand Northern Territory Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price from the Coalition’s frontbench following a week of infighting in the Liberal Party over her inflammatory comments about Indian migrants.
Price confirmed her dismissal from her role as the opposition’s defence industry spokeswoman in a statement on Wednesday night, saying: “This evening, I spoke with the Leader of the federal Liberal Party and federal opposition, Sussan Ley, who has asked me to step down from the shadow ministry.
“I have accepted the Leader’s decision. And I reiterated my regret in not being clearer in my comments on the ABC last Wednesday.”

The person who should be sacked is Sussan Ley. She won't last long imo.

I agree that Sussan Ley was not the best pick for Leader. She was definitely chosen simply because she was a woman and that was supposed to appeal to the female conservative voters who they believe have left the party in droves for the Teals who are mainly female.
However I always believe that the best person should be chosen for the job regardless of their gender. And the person I would prefer to lead the party is Andrew Hastie.

I won't forgive Susan Ley for sacking Jacinta for speaking the truth. Susan was never the right fit for leadership, truth be known, she has dumped Jacinta because she feels threatened by her.Aquarius wrote: ↑Thu Sep 11, 2025 9:07 amI agree that Sussan Ley was not the best pick for Leader. Jacinta is both female and Aboriginal, Susan's just female and a rather lacklustre pick at that.
Susan gives me Malcolm Turnbull and Julia Bishop vibes.
She's not a true blue Liberal.

Re: Jacinta Price Sacked from Front Bench
I think Jacinta Price should start her own party. Along with Warren Mundine.
The only other party that aligns itself with what most Aussies hold dear (in opposition to the Lib/Lab uniparty) is Pauline Hanson's One Nation and unfortunately Pauline isn't widely respected.
Pauline made a huge mistake sacking Mark Latham and as much as I intensely disliked his thuggish and boorish manner when he was leader of the opposition against Howard he's come a long way since those days, has grown up and his views on the future of Australia resonate with more and more people.
Personally, I can't stand Pauline but I could certainly get behind Jacinta Price. Sussan Ley is NEVER going to be PM. She is only going to lead the Libs into the wilderness.
