What a terribly sad thing. That poor dear little girl.

But let's talk about the filth and squalor she was subjected to. Sleeping on a dirty mattress on a filthy floor littered with empty booze bottles.

The response to this terrible occurrence was to riot and destroy and loot a service station, a bottle shop and police cars and to get drunker than they already were.

I don't know how many billions of dollars we toss at them every year but in 2016, 10 years ago, it was beyond $30 billion. Now it could easily be double and it's NOT helping. The perpetrator needs to be given the harshest of sentences but we need to address just tossing money at these people. Maybe it should be used for sterilization. These children need to be given a decent chance and maybe the government should step in ... again!

Like most Australians with a heart, we were shattered today to learn of the fate of “Kumanjayi Little Baby,” as her family has asked she be referred.

The murder of Kumanjayi, who was taken from her bed in a 'town camp' in Alice Springs, should be a loud scream for government action: yet we know they are all talk.

We read these suggestions from an esteemed gentleman who goes under the name, RoadKnight! Thank you, Sir!
He says:

“1. Ban the term 'Stolen Generations'. They are the 'Rescued Generations' - rescued from abuse & neglect.

2. Rescue & remove all children being brought up in substandard accommodation or by those who are too drug or alcohol-affected to provide proper care.

3. Apply the above as it would be applied to white folk in cities, without the nonsense 'cultural sensitivity' which is just a euphemism for acceptance of lower standards that would be unacceptable anywhere else.

3. Cease the notion that they must be placed 'with kith, kin, community or on country' where it cannot be proven that that care is adequate: fostering/adoption by others in other locations & not selected based on race. Too often, children are shunted from one form of dysfunction to the next.

4. Demolish all ramshackle 'town camps' & relocate 'long-grassers' into appropriate accommodation within towns. This relegation of ‘out-of-sight, out-of-mind’ has to stop.

5. Enforce mandatory school attendance with fines, deducted from fortnightly welfare if necessary. Non-attending children are most likely to be neglected or abused. They should be removed from parents who would deny them any sort of meaningful future because they can neither read nor write. This, after all, is passive child abuse.

6. Audit all expenditure on Aboriginal individuals, groups, charities, businesses, land councils & services - including mining royalties.

7. Begin to wean Aborigines off soul-destroying passive welfare that leads to hopelessness, helplessness, depression & escapism through numbing drugs & alcohol.

8. Create meaningful work to assist the above. Thousands of houses require repairs, maintenance, cleaning. Communities need rubbish collection & road maintenance, especially during the wet season, along with self-sustainability: growing fruit & vegetables, rearing chickens for meat & eggs, thereby overcoming the problems of poor health & nutrition as a result of the cost of remote transport.

There are countless opportunities for actual work that benefits the communities, in the broadest sense.

9. Apply the law & sentencing as it would be applied to a white person in a city. Justice is supposed to be blind, so there should be no privilege due to race or hardships during upbringing - we can all experience hardships.

10. Stop 'othering' Aborigines. We are all Australians. We are all equal. Stop favouring one race over another. It's achieving the complete opposite of what is intended.

A woman has been charged with allegedly setting fire to a police car
during the riots in Alice Springs on Thursday night.
Police have since charged a Northern Territory woman after she allegedly used a lighter to set fire to dried grass underneath a police car about 10.40pm Saturday.

The woman was arrested at the scene and officers tried to extinguish the flames before it caused any more damage.

“Despite this, the vehicle sustained about $20,000 damage as the unrest continued,” a police statement read.

She has since been charged with one count of attempted arson and one count of taking part in a riot.

She remains in custody and is due to face court next week.

Police expect more arrests and charged to be laid as the investigations into the riot continues.

The Northern Territory’s child protection crisis is deepening amid revelations a six-week-old baby was this week flown to Darwin with “suspicious” head injuries.

A report in The Australian revealed the infant was allowed to remain with its family in a remote Aboriginal community despite NT Health staff notifying the Department of Children and Families – before the child sustained its head injuries – that they suspected the baby had been sexually assaulted.

On Thursday NT Police told The Nightly it was investigating the baby’s “unexplained injuries”.
