Australia is at risk
Conflict in the Pacific is likely a matter of years away – and Australia doesn’t appear to be prepared.
Our large land mass and small population make it difficult to defend from attack, but there might be one way Canberra could overcome this.
But it needs to spend big.
That’s the view of defence industry experts who attended Reveille 2026, a pioneering defence investment forum that took place on the Gold Coast earlier this month.
Aussie entrepreneur Steen Bisgaard, whose company GaardTech supplies sophisticated defence systems, said it was only a matter of time before conflict arrived at our doorstep.
“What we’ve seen in the last three, four years is that conflicts will come,” the former Australian Defence Force (ADF) soldier told news.com.au.

“We need to define how are we ready, we need to understand what is the threat profile, we need to be open about it. I think the Australian culture of ‘she’ll be right’ [is] not going to float in a global shootout. [The conflict] won’t be triggered by us, it’ll be triggered by some sort of superpower-peer conflict. But we will be dragged into that because of our defence pacts.”

He said Australia should focus on building more resilient supply chains and strengthen its munitions production capacity. He said Australia was too reliant on US munition supplies, which are quickly running out.
“Quite rightly, US factories will give their stuff to the US armed forces first and [then] us at the end of that queue. So we don’t have access to stocks … unless we can make it here and can control it here,” he told news.com.au.

We certainly cannot depend on the US anymore. What with Ukraine and Iran their munitions are dangerously low and they wont share what they have.
Should we invest in robots? Build munitions factories and build our own? Both?
The only thing for sure is that we have to step up and do something.

The Libs won't do anything about it either. We're sitting ducks.

Australia's last full Defence White Paper was released in 2016, since then the Australian government has shifted its strategic planning framework toward the National Defence Strategy.
The 2026 National Defence Strategy was released by the Australian Government in April this year.

ScoMo wasted 100s of billions over covid andBlack Orchid wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2026 8:14 pmThe Libs won't do anything about it either. We're sitting ducks.
Albo wasted 100s of billions more on who knows what ? - rubbish.
Our Govts are printing money and causing inflation.
They do it by creating Govt. bonds and the Reserve bank prints the money to buy them.
The Reserve bank should tell each Govt to go to hell -
we're NOT printing any more money.

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) has faced a multi-year recruitment and retention crisis.
ABC&Co harassment of Australian war veteran did not help recruitment drive.

Ain't that the sad truth and they are still at it even though they've been busted for fake videos.
