The shoes missed. Mr Howard appeared surprised, then amused.
Host Tony Jones ordered security to remove the long-haired young man and apologised to Mr Howard.
''Forget it, forget it,'' the former Prime Minister said, smiling. Perhaps he recalled that his close friend, former US President George Bush, also had shoes thrown at him during a press conference in Iraq two years ago. Shoe throwing in Iraq is considered the ultimate insult.
From the Age.
He handled it with good grace. Now that is the Aussie spirit and Aussie way on not taking one self too seriously. A good response little Johnny. Give them nothing to feed off.

Throwing shoes is not Iraqi culture, but 'shoe-beating' is a Muslim practice.
The concept is if troubled or angry with something or someone, you write the name of the problem in the sand with your finger, draw a circle around it, and then hit it with the sole of your footwear 100 times. Sometimes cranky elders are known to chase off undesirable youngsters from village centres ect by hitting them with their shoes. Shoe missiles seems to be a new variant on this old practice.

Well, at least that would have made him competant... but as it is, he doesn't even have that going for him.
Anyway, since when has assaulting someone been an effective debating tactic?

Seems to be the only way the left know how to debate. They are violent and pathetic....unable to follow up their highly strung views but live in hope that they will garner support for their illogical actions.
Personally, I would shoot all those fuckers and give the shooters medals for saving society
